David V. Trask and William S. Britt founded TraskBritt, P.C. in 1973. Located in the Intermountain West, the firm represents national and international corporations, research organizations, universities, and individuals throughout the world, with a substantial client base in the European Union and Asia.

In the three years that "IP Law & Business" magazine published an independent patent quality study, TraskBritt was one of only four firms in the country to be rated as a leader in more than one technology category each of the three years, earning the number one position for electrical patents and the number three position for chemical patents. The firm was also ranked 71st of the 352 firms ranked in the United States by "Intellectual Property Today" for the number of U.S. utility patents issued during 2007 and 50th for the number of design patents issued. TraskBritt is listed in the Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Section of the "Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers," with an "AV" rating, which is the highest possible rating that reflects legal ability and ethics. Seven of the firm's attorneys are currently listed among a select group of intellectual property attorneys in "The Best Lawyers in America" publication and five are named by Mountain States Super Lawyers as among the top five percent of lawyers in the state.
